Most folks know the homie Prince Aries as co-host on Distortion 2 Static or as a DJ, but the guy is also a dope graphic artist as well. Here's a clean Dilla tribute piece he did a while back.
The good folks at Beats + Crates conducted a great interview with the DJ/producer/all-around-hustler that is known as House Shoes. For those who don't know, House Shoes is a pioneering figure in Detroit hip-hop, and we all know what an impact Detroit has had on the hip-hop scene in the past decade.
B+C: "What's hip-hop missing?"
House Shoes: "Aggression. The shit got soft...there's a code to this hip-hop shit...this aint no fuckin' playground shit."
Be sure to catch House Shoes out here in San Francisco on Nov. 28. at Re-Heat.
Skee.TV presents: Freddie Gibbs - The Dash

Fuck Rap II - Freddie Gibbs (Prod. By Josh The Goon)
Another Goon & Gibbs collabo, full album coming soon. Fresh from the inbox to the blog, thanks to Josh & Villain Radio for this one.

Today we lost arguably the greatest entertainer ever, Michael Jackson. He was one of the most talended singer/songwriters of all time, redefined music. Not only that, but MJ also pioneered music video revolution and helped birth the MTV generation.
Whether with the Jackson 5 or as a solo artist, Michael has provided all of us with countless memories. No one will even come close to dethroning the King of Pop--not any time soon at least.
Rest In Peace - Michael Jackson (1958-2009)
Legendary Chicago producer No ID (aka the guy who taught Kanye how to make beats aka producer of Jay-Z's D.O.A. aka Death of AutoTune) gives his thoughts on the now standard practice of artists working with multiple producers on an album.
"It’s a new concept that they came up with that really destroyed music to me."

A new SWTBRDS blog exclusive courtesy of Josh The Goon & Freddie Gibbs, featuring Black Flint from Detroit. This cut is gritty to the core. Black Flint on the first verse, Freddie on the rest.
We posted a couple of Freddie's music videos a minute ago here. More after the jump!

T.I.M.E. - Finale (mixed by King Most)
Bay Area DJ don King Most mixes a collection of songs by Detroit emcee Finale. Stay up to date w/Most at his new blog.
I got put on to Freddie Gibbs a couple of years back by my boy Josh The Goon (one of the illest producer/engineers out of Venice).
From the first song I ever heard, I knew the Gary, Indiana emcee was and is what today's hip-hop needs...grit. He's been floating around the majors for a minute now. Record execs need to drop the politics and release his album.
